I was thrilled to receive a request to make a box for the first temple of this dispensation. The Kirtland temple was different from those that followed. It served as a meeting place for the general body of the saints and featured two assembly halls. Following that pattern, I made the Kirtland temple box with two compartments, one above the other. It required 35 parts to construct and includes the 10 dormers on its roof like its real-life counterpart. The Kirtland temple box measures 4½” x 5½” x 6”, and its dual over-and-under compartments provide almost 35 in³ of storage capacity. It is made primarily of pine with some plywood.
